Summer Jewelry: Go With Pearls

Pearls 2017

Why the classic pearl is back and better than ever.

With a reputation for always being a classic, this season pearls saw a modern reinvention of sorts. Paired with interesting runway looks, the dainty bauble adds a feminine touch to otherwise street-savvy or mens-inspired styles.

Tongue in cheek brands like Moschino, who had them embroidered onto a day dress, and Fenty x Puma, which paired bold bigger pearls, and a strand of smaller pearls with a millennial pink lace ensemble, worked to update the fine pieces. Classic brands, like Ann Demeulemeester, went for a knee-grazing strand with silky white pants, a white cardigan and a white duster, while Vera Wang placed varying sizes on a short sleeve black sweater and matching pencil skirt set. And at Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld went extreme, naturally, with layers upon layers of pearl strands.

When it came to accessories other than necklaces, Céline went with bold double pearl earrings, while Lanvin placed one single pearl as the centre-piece of a floral broach.

No matter how you wear, pearls are a fashion-forward option once again.
