Introducing the GlucksteinHome Charity Candle
Canadian design icon Brian Gluckstein speaks about the new limited-edition GlucksteinHome charity candle, which will benefit the Children’s Aid Foundation through the support of the HBC Foundation’s Strength in Stripes program.
In a choice of gleaming gold, silver and rose gold finishes, this unscented poured wax candle is encased in a lustrous metallic-etched glass vessel, which makes a stylish keepsake for jewellery, flowers or decor long after the candle is gone. The candle is beautifully boxed for easy gifting, making it perfect for Mother’s Day. Group all three candles to add warming ambience to your space, or use many down the centre of your dining room table for perfect mood lighting.
The HBC Foundation’s Strength in Stripes program will donate $16.50 from the sale of this GlucksteinHome candle to mental health programs at the Children’s Aid Foundation. This funding will provide long-term support for the most urgent needs of children and young people who have experienced neglect, abuse or abandonment, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to succeed.
As a board member of the Children’s Aid Foundation, I’m dedicated to supporting its work to empower Canada’s most vulnerable young people and encourage them to realize their full potential.
Childhood trauma is nearly universal amongst young people in the child welfare system. As a result, they are almost four times as likely to be diagnosed with a mental disorder compared to children in the general population, and 17 times more likely to be hospitalized for a mental disorder. Proceeds from the GlucksteinHome candle will help address their critical mental health needs, giving them hope for a healthier future. Initiatives include trauma-informed counselling, mental health system navigation, attachment programs to help new at-risk parents bond with their babies, and other evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of at-risk children and youth.
