We picked five of these immortal bestsellers and delved into why, and just how much, we really love them.

If you’ve heard of Clinique you’ve heard of Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+. This hydration hero first became available in 1968, and has become a cult favourite for its velvety formula that moisturizes without excess oil or grease. Its popularity is far-reaching — Allure reported in 2012 that if you were to take every bottle sold in the last year and pour them out in a thin line you’d circle the globe twice. And the formula only seems to be getting better with age — in 2013, the brand released its latest version (adding a + sign to the name), made free of parabens and said to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier by 54%.
