A Pop of Colour: Spring’s Brightest Beauty Trend
Make a big impact this season with just one vibrant colour on your eyes or lips.
What’s your favourite colour? If you’re not sure, beauty’s latest spring look—dubbed “colour blocking” or “unexpected colour,” will help you decide. Try this trend by wearing one bold hue on the eyes or lips, and minimal makeup elsewhere. We’re not just talking about your classic reds, pinks and purples—electric blue, canary yellow and every other stripe in the rainbow applies. Here’s what you’ll need to rock the look.
For the Lips
A kaleidoscope of head-turning lip colours, like acid orange and magenta, were seen on the spring runways, so any bright lippy you like works this season. If you’re looking for a way to reinvent red, now’s your chance—paired with the no-makeup makeup look, this timeless shade becomes that much more striking.
For the Eyes
Get playful with pigment: Pick your colour, then get creative, covering your entire lids in a notice-me shade of eyeshadow, or use an eyeliner to create thick wings on the upper eyelids or arched lines just below the brow bones. If you’re really feeling adventurous, swipe a little colour on your temples or upper cheekbones.
For Everywhere Else
Skin should be clean and natural-looking so your colour stands out even more. Prep by exfoliating the night before, then cleanse, moisturize and lightly apply concealer and highlighter where needed. Finish things off with a couple coats of mascara, and, if you’re wearing your colour on the eyes, a neutral-toned lip gloss or lipstick.
